EXPERTISE
Jawad was trained as a mediator in 2006-07 under the Madras High Court mediation program. Thereafter he has undergone Training of Trainers. He has conducted mediations under the court-annexed program involving a range of disputes, from civil/commercial to matrimonial and child custody. He has conducted innumerable mediation training programs under the Supreme Court of India’s Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee training lawyers and judges in mediation all over India. He has undergone ToT with ADR ODR International and has worked in AOI’s University training programs as associate trainer. Jawad has further conducted several ToT programs for the MCPC, Supreme Court of India.
EXPERIENCE
Jawad started as a lawyer in 1988 and practiced litigation till 2009. During his litigation practice, he has appeared before various courts in India in diverse cases dealing with civil/commercial law, contracts, company law and constitutional law including human rights. He is on the arbitration panel of the Madras High Court and has been appointed as an arbitrator in civil/commercial/contractual disputes. He has also appeared as a counsel for parties in arbitrations arising from civil and engineering disputes.
In 2009, Jawad gave up his litigation practice and decided to take up ADR full time.
MEMBERSHIP
Jawad is a Partner and Head, ADR Services with KDLex Chambers LLP who are the resident representative of AOI in India. Jawad is empaneled as a mediator and global faculty with AOI. He is an accredited mediator and senior trainer with the MCPC, Supreme Court of India. He is empaneled as India-Specialist Mediator with SIMC and is accredited as a Level-3 mediator with SIMI. He is empaneled as a mediator with the Bombay Chamber of Commerce. He is empaneled as an arbitrator with the Madras High Court Arbitration Centre.
